Thanksgiving Has Come Again!

Ah... Thanksgiving has come again! Local markets are packed with people rushing to get the critical last ingredient in their attempt to recreate Grandma’s famous pumpkin pie and traditional dressing. Who can ever forget the aroma of freshly baked apple and sweet potato pie awakening them Thanksgiving morning?

What is Thanksgiving without a mouth watering Turkey to finish off your table? Whether, you slow cook, smoke, or deep fry your turkey, please be sure to think Safety First to ensure your Holiday is one to remember!

In the spirit of the season we offer this anonymous rhyme:

The year has turned its circle,
The seasons come and go.
The harvest all is gathered in
And chilly north winds blow.

Orchards have shared their treasures,
The fields, their yellow grain,
So open wide the doorway ---
Thanksgiving comes again!

7search wishes you and yours a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Tired of Paying Too Much on PPC?

One of the major challenges all advertisers must face is the intractable task of cost effectively managing their bids. There are many variables that make this an arduous task. For example; over or under bidding adjustments, website maintenance that requires pausing of campaigns and competitors bidding erratically can have your own bids fluctuating worst than the stock market.

Well, there’s an answer for all who are tired of wasting precious advertising dollars and time - Pay-per-click bid management software! PPC bid management software will adjust your bids to help you stay on target. It does this by adjusting bids automatically to help keep your ranking at the desired position with the cpc you want to pay. It will also allow you to manage multiple keywords accounts across multiple PPC search networks. And these are easy to use desktop applications that run on your PC. If used correctly they may also increase your ROI!

7search.com works in conjunction with Bidrank.com, Bidmaximizer.com, and PPCBidMax.com software. We recommend visiting all three Bid Management sites to find out which one is best suited for your advertising needs.

So if you wish to ensure that your campaigns are always only paying 1 penny above your competitors then seriously consider bid management software. We recommend it!

ADTECH NY Today, SES Chicago Tomorrow

Our Sales Team just got back from yet another successful show. They visited AdTech in the Big Apple. They told us that it was by far the busiest show they've ever been to, meeting over 700 people in just two days. There was a reported 10,000+ people who attended AdTech this year. The Sales Team gained a lot of new Search Partners and Advertisers at the show. Word is that most of the new Partners were companies looking for an alternative to Google partnerships.

They even received great and positive feedback from our current clients who they met for the first time regarding our support staff here @ 7search.com! That's awesome because we take great pride in trying to be the best support team in the PPC industry.

7search will be at The Search Engine Strategies Show (SES) in December here at the Chicago Hilton. Stop by and meet our awesome Sales Team, they'll be in booth 211. Oh, and you can get a 20% off the registration fee for SES with the discount code: 20WEBM. See you there!

Happy Halloween From 7search!

All Hallows Eve is upon us! Restless children everywhere are ticking off the days until they can once again go out in search of candy treats. In the spirit of this holiday we would like to offer a few ideas to make your day sweeter:

Ready for your yearly dose of candy deprived ghouls and goblins knocking at your door? Running low on sugar coated bribes and worried that eggs and toilet paper might not improve your home’s resale value? What you need is access to some great last minute Halloween Treats. Well, that, and a power washer (just in case).

Halloween is definitely targeted more towards children. Feeling left out of the fun? This trick will definitely be a treat come October 31st.

Do you like the festive look of carved pumpkins, but have no interest in actually taking a blade to our good old’ friend Jack O’ Lantern? Carve a virtual pumpkin and save the mess for someone else. Jack’s mother thanks you.

Don’t forget your loved ones this Halloween! Send them a free e-card from one of these sites:

The Keyword: Parachute Pants

7search.com offers a tool that many Advertisers don’t take advantage of: The Keyword Suggestion Tool.

7Search Keyword Suggestion Tool

It’s commonly known that just about all PPC’s have this same tool. But it seems to me that not too many Advertisers are taking advantage. Case and point; An Advertiser came to us saying, “I’ve got 1 keyword and that 1 keyword generates all of traffic he needs with Google.” Once I saw the keyword, I thought “Impossible”.

The Keyword: Parachute Pants

“Parachute pants” generates 87 searches per month. The last time those pants were popular the Cubs were in the World Series.

Bidding on one keyword is not always the best strategy. In my opinion, the best keyword strategy would be to bid on as many relevant keywords as possible. The Keyword Suggestion Tool provides you with the total amount of searches a particular keyword received in the past month. The key is to bid on relevant terms as well as terms that are highly popular.

Here’s a simple strategy that I would recommend when advertising:
  • Select as many relevant terms as possible to bid on. The more search terms you have in your account, the better chance a web surfer will visit your page.
  • Be creative when selecting keywords. Web surfers don’t always search for the regular run of the mill keywords/phrases.
  • Bid according to the Smart Bid™ in your account. The majority of the traffic generated by 7search comes from its partners. The Smart Bid™ will place your listing within the top 5 positions on the partner’s results pages.

Keyword Suggestion Tool features:

  • Shows you the amount of searches a particular keyword received in the past month.
  • Shows the estimated amount of clicks for the top position.
  • Shows the estimated amount of cost of the top position.
  • Shows the current top bid as well as the bids for positions 2 through 5.
If you have any questions about the 7search Keyword Suggestion Tool or need any help with keywords feel free to ask a question!

Know Your PPC ROI

The virtual world does not give license to forsake metrics that determine success for specific marketing tactics.

Just like a brick and mortar operation, knowing the true cost of business activities helps web entrepreneurs focus their efforts on what produces the most profit. And as the old saying goes, if you can track it, you can control it.

This gives marketers a heads up when a tactic is failing so that a change of course can be plotted or that expense scuttled.

A key metric online businesses should pay attention to is the Return on Investment (ROI) for Pay-Per-Click (PPC) advertising. To do this, marketers must track clicks from each PPC network and compare these to resultant conversions, which can be anything that the website owner desires for the user to do: register for a newsletter, join a forum, participate in a contest, etc.)

Here’s an Easy Way to Calculate ROI

To start, each click must be multiplied by the keyword bid price to determine “Cost.” “Conversions” must then be multiplied by an assigned dollar value to establish the “Income.” To determine “Gain,” subtract the “Cost” from ‘”Income” and “ROI” is stated as a percentage of Gain divided by Cost. (An ROI of 100% means that for every $1 cost, there was $2 in income.)

A simple way to look at this equation is as follows:

(Income - Cost) / Cost = ROI %

Using this method, marketers not only can track the “success” of various PPC networks in terms of clicks, but also compare ROI from each to help find the most-effective partners.

Geo-Targeting

So let’s say you’re a roofer in Bolivia, you really won’t be doing business in Japan. So why should people who live in Japan visit your web site? You’re not going to fly all the way to Japan to fix someone’s roof. 7search.com doesn’t think you should either, which is why we offer a geo-targeting feature. You can pick and choose whichever and however many countries you want your ads to appear in. So start getting more targeted traffic by taking advantage of the geo-targeting feature.

Go ahead and ask our knowledgeable Support Staff if you have any questions!

The Number One Question

The number one question all PPC account managers want to know; “How much will you convert for me?”

Conveniently, 7Search.com provides its advertisers with conversion tracking to address this exact issue. With 7search conversion tracking codes in place, advertisers can easily see which campaigns have the highest conversions, which have the lowest and where their time / money are best spent.

To take advantage of this tool, log in to your account and click the “Campaigns” button located on the top of your “Dashboard”. Next click the “Track it” link located under the “Conv.” column on the campaigns page. The next page will provide you with three different types of code. Each code varies depending on the type of page that your website offers. Paste the code into your final/sales/Thank you page to track conversions for traffic received.

And 7search client support is always here if you have any questions!

7Search - A Light in the Distance

Recently, Avenue A/Razorfish released a white paper entitled Digital Outlook Report 08. It gives a detailed overview of Digital Marketing; the evolution of online marketing, driving factors and how organizations can respond to the new environment. Brian Krick, Director of Search, Philadelphia, and Lindsay Blankenship, Associate Director of Search, Atlanta, point out;
“The most significant development in paid search in 2007 was the disappearance of transparent bidding.” – from chapter titled, “The State of Search Marketing”
With Yahoo! abandoning the old ‘Overture model’ (a Transparent Bid Auction) for their new opaque bidding model, Yahoo!’s customers were dragged into the dark unknown abyss of a “blind market” (similar to Google’s AdWords). The result was increasing advertiser anxiety AND budget all at the mercy of the major search engines.

Krick felt it “marks the end of an era of relative transparency in paid search economics.” The little guy has no recourse but to open their pocketbook and let the bully take their lunch money.

Meanwhile, Google continues to squeeze more cash out of advertiser’s pocketbooks with their Quality Score and it’s ambiguous calculation. Brain and Lindsey added,
“Jordan Rohan, an analyst with RBC Capital Markets, has speculated that a late 2007 adjustment to the Quality Score gave Google wide latitude to manipulate it to extract maximum revenue. According to Rohan, Quality Score now acts as a revenue dial, which Google can turn up or down at will.”
So, is all lost? Is there anyone out there with any mercy for the advertiser, and not the stockholders? Thankfully there is. 7Search.com still offers a Transparent Bid Auction and gives advertisers control over their campaign cost. Let’s look at some examples;
Keyword Suggestion Tool (publicly available) shows the top 5 bids on any keyword, the number of searches during the previous month, and the number of clicks the top bidder received the previous month.

SmartBid Tool (found inside advertiser accounts) goes a step further showing the top 5 bids and searches performed on 7search’s top distribution partners. This valuable information tells what bid is necessary to show across the entire 7search partner network for each keyword.
It’s no wonder the analysts have ranked 7Search.com as having the highest Return on Investment (ROI) of all search engines. So rest better at night knowing there is a bright light in distance. “Second star to the right, straight on till morning.” – Peter Pan

Contacting 7Search is Easy!

Do you know how easy it is to contact a 7search Service Rep? I do. And the answer is: Very easy.

The Support Staff gets in the office bright and early, 7:00 AM CST, and they leave as the sun makes its way towards the west, 5:30 PM CST. During those business hours the staff is always answering phone calls from both Advertiser and Affiliates for an array of questions. Even if they’re tied up with another call, voicemails are replied to as soon as possible. The 7search Support Staff also replies to emails, which are normally responded to within 90 minutes.

But the best, and in my opinion easiest, way to contact a Service Rep is through our live chat feature. If you’re an Advertiser, the live chat tool is located right on your account’s Dashboard. Affiliates can access it right from their account as well by selecting the ‘Support’ tab at the top of their account interface.

Once you click on the live chat icon, it only takes a few seconds for a Service Rep to greet you. It’s that simple. There is no time limit, no character limit, no question you can’t ask.

The live chat tool will allow us to:
  • Quickly validate your credit card
  • Walk you through new features
  • Explain our online reports
And it’s not just limited to the items mentioned above. Go ahead and ask our knowledgeable Support Staff any question you might have and get an answer right on the spot.

7Search Top 3 Finalist for the SES Award

7Search came in as one of the top 3 finalists for the Search Engine Strategies Award (SES Awards 2008) under the category of "Most Advertiser Friendly Search Engine".

7Search Director of Online Operations, Gemma Piscotti, said in a recent interview,

"We are very proud that we are considered for this award because I do believe we are the most advertiser-friendly search engine available today. Our customer service staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and are available from 7am through 5:30pm, Monday through Friday via email, phone or live chat! In addition our patent pending fraud detection helps to provide high quality traffic and our account tools are very beneficial to optimizing campaigns.”

Although we didn’t win this year, competition is always fun and we think it's an honor to have made it to the final level.
